Ken asks…

What is the lowest credit score do you have to have to lease a car?

I’m in the market to buy another car. Currently driving a 2001 Lexus RX300 and the new has worn off. Was wondering if it was possible to lease a car with a less than perfect FICO score of 652. The only reason why I was considering is because I want to buy at least a 2003-4 BMW X5 but I prefer a brand new one but I don’t have the cash or dare need a car payment that high for a 45k vehicle! I’ve heard leases are generally only approved for people with great credit but I have heard of people with less than perfect credit leasing cars but I was wondering approx. with what score?

Administrator answers:

If you leased your RX through a leasing company then you might want to call and ask them if they have an X5 you could take over a lease on. If you leased through the Lexus dealer then locate a used X5 at a Lexus dealer and go from there. In either case, 652 is not so bad that you wouldn’t be able to lease another vehicle, especially if you are currently in a lease. I would also recommend calling a leasing company (not a dealer) to ask more questions and to locate the X5 you want.

Ruth asks…

What happens when there is fire damage under the dashboard of a vehicle?

I’m looking at a BMW X5 to purchase but it says there is fire damage under the dashboard. How does that affect the car?

Administrator answers:

Personally I would stay away from it.I could cause you problems for as long as you own the car. There is a lot of things under there that could be damaged.

Mark asks…

How dos US car insurance work compared to english car insurance?

I’m looking to get a bmw x5 but insurance is £9000k a year like $13000k
I heard they do it different so its easier to get bigger cars. In england they don’t allow young drivers to get big cars so the insurance is expensive

How dos us car insurance work

Administrator answers:

Us car insurance is basically the same, but again, it depends on what your provider is. In england, the rules are probably stricter because of different laws.

Maria asks…

bmw 2002 x5 4.4 passanger side window?

my passanger side window and door lock will not work. Since both the electric lock and window are not working I’m wondering if it may be a wiring or relay problem. Also this may not be related but the control for my rear wiper also dosn’t work could this be involved in the wiring relay problem if that is my problem? Other than these minor issues the X5 is an amazing vehicle.

Planning a trip to Leavenworth, WA Worried about snow driving?

I’m planning a trip next week to Leavenworth, WA from Bellevue, WA. I drive a BMW x5 with all weather tires. I have never been to Leavenworth and don’t know how road conditions will be at that time. My question is will all weather tires + careful driving get the job done to and back from Leavenworth? I know rain and snow will impact the conditions, but will a bright sunny day help?

Administrator answers:

522 and 2 are both heavily traveled, so if there is recent bad weather they will be maintained. All weather tires and careful driving should be enough, but always be prepared to postpone the trip if need. A bright sunny day always helps break off the snow and ice, be ready to see ice in the shady areas.

Administrator answers:

Going to Leavenworth means going over Steven’s Pass, Highway 2. My family does the drive every weekend in winter to go skiing.

Pay attention to the weather conditions. As already said “chains required” means just that, and they often have state troopers enforcing the rules.

I’d be a bit wary about driving a non-all wheel drive car up when they say “traction tires required” as well.

Be prepared with appropriate supplies in your car – blankets, chains, food and water. This is a 2 lane highway with no barrier in the road for most of the trip and accidents are pretty common. If you get stuck behind one and the conditions change you’ll be happy you have them. We’ve been stuck behind accidents on average once a year for at least an hour.

Yes, a bright sunny day will help. The pass is regularly plowed and a sunny day means the plows will have a chance to catch up and do their best to get the roads back down to pavement.

I also recommend paying attention to the speed limits. There are places along the way on the west side of highway 2 that have speed limits down to 35 and you want to make sure you aren’t contributing to the local economy by getting a ticket.

Betty asks…

NAV & Bluetooth in my X5?

I have a BMW X5 02 model. It has a fitted 16:9 Widescreen in already with TV.

I wanted to know exactly all the parts I would need for Nav including wires etc, and also to add bluetooth in there. I’m assuming that I need a mic for that part.

Can any one help me please.

Thanks

Administrator answers:

I’m not sure that the ’02 X is bluetooth capable but then again, I don’t know much about X5s. You can check out Tom Tom’s nav systems. Some of their models come with bluetooth speaker phone to connect to your cell. If you’re handy with wiring, you may be able to connect the unit up to where your home link is for power. Some people tap this area for their V1 radar detector.
