Michael asks…

Which muffler brand is better Magnaflow or Flowmaster is better?

I have a BMW X5 2002. And I wanted to add some new pipes and exhaust. I’m now stuck between these two brands. Any help appreciated.

Administrator answers:

I would say Flowmaster for an American V8, but for an X5 I don’t know who could tell you. Try YouTube or BMW and X5 forums online. That could tell you more. But I warn you, messing with the O2 sensors and electronics of a BMW could result in havoc. Things could get crazy if not done right. Go to a professional exhaust shop with good reviews.

is a used bmw x5 “showy” for a 16 year old?

I will getting my dad’s bmw x5 when I turn 16 that has 130,000 miles on it but looks fine from the outside. I am afraid people may think I just want to show off.

Administrator answers:

Who cares? Its a set of wheels. Be proud that your dad is able to give you a ride like that.

Mandy asks…

what shd i feel if my x5′s transmission valve body is bad ?

i have a 2003 bmw x5 4.4i , it has 87000 km of milage , during check up the dealers computer noted that i have torque converter lock up clutch excessive slip since 3 months , the fault keeps sayinf its currently happening , i never felt a change in torque or fuel consumption but i do sometimes feel that while accelerating and stopping to zero i feel a mild bump when the car stops , my mechanic says that my problem is a faulty valve body which regulates the hydraulic pressure of the torque convertor and causes it to slip thus fixin the valve body will solve everythn , is this true ? what are the symptoms of a bad valve body ? can anyone help ? any bmw experts out there >??

Administrator answers:

You should definitely feel a change in the way that the car accels through the gears, I’d take it to the dealership to have them check it out. The car should still be under warranty, shouldn’t it? If it is then it would be their responsiblity to coorect the problem anyway. Good Luck

George asks…

BMW x5 auto-level rear suspension? Can i change it to normal?

I have BMW x5 3.0i 2002 with automatic rear suspension. What pros and cons to remove it and install ordinary suspension(the way it is in front)?

Administrator answers:

Can it be changed – yes, but it will cost you some serious $$$$$.

In addition, you will have to choose one load for optimum. Driving with other loads will adversely affect the handling and greatly increase the rear tire wear.
