Lizzie asks…

Can I install a panoramic sunroof in a 2004 Suzuki Xl-7?

I have a Suzuki Xl-7 and wanted to know if it was possible to install a panoramic sunroof from the first to the third row just like land rovers, Audi, and BMW X5 I know the second row a/c vents are in the way but if it was possible where could I find one and how much would it cost?

Administrator answers:

Considering there are A/C vents in the way, it is not possible.

Michael asks…

What car is better Audi A8,Q7, BMW x5, or range rover sport international?

I am looking for a car between these four that is practical, luxurious, sporty, and affordable.

Administrator answers:

These cars are of different categories so there is no best one.
Sounds like you are not much involved with the driving part so I would base the choice as follows:

1. Choose whether you need a sedan or an SUV. If it is a sedan than go with the A8 since it is the only one you listed
2. If you need an SUV then I would rule out the Range Rover right away. Since Ford took the ownership of the brand (despite the sale to Tata motors) it has done no good to the cars. From the SUV’s you listed I like Rover the least on all counts: steering feel and driving experience, looks, build quality. It is by far inferior to Audi and BMW….these cars are much much better

3. Decide between the Q7 and X5. Both are great cars. Q7 owners complained that the interior is fragile to things like coffee spills. A single coffee spill can render half of the devices inoperable if anything drips through the console or the dash compartments. BMW is more of a drivers car and would be my choice – steering is the best out of all cars, road feel is incredibly good. Audy has more subtle handling and does not feel the road quite as good as the BMW. BMW seems to be more reliable and rugged when it comes to things like coffee spills.

My suggestion – BMW X5. But Audi is a great car. It comes down to the looks, options and the overall feel for you. Hope this was helpful

George asks…

How much does it cost a year to maintain a 2009 BMW X5 30i Xdrive?

So I’m buying a 2009 BMW X5 30i Xdrive.

I drive about 7,000 miles a year

The car currently has about 30,000 miles on it, just off lease.

How much will it cost to maintain this car.

Administrator answers:

Estimates will vary. My experience with German vehicles is that you should set aside about $3000 per year. Some years will be light and some years will be heavy. Depends on the mileage milestones you hit with that car. Go through the owners manual and look at the suggested service and maintenance intervals for major components.

Ken asks…

How much should a 24 year old have in savings?

I am currently 24 years old living in NYC with the following assets:

$150k in savings.
$50k in 401k (w/. 13% contribution of salary every year)
$120k in annual salary + $25k profit sharing
$50k in stocks
$45k BMW x5
$4k of credit card debt.

How do I compare with other 24 yo individuals in the country?

Am I currently well off? Where do I rank in the country between individuals my age.

Administrator answers:

Did that make you feel better? How tacky to put your financials out there. Big no no.

Sandra asks…

How much should I have in my savings account?

I am currently 24 years old living in NYC with the following assets:

$150k in savings.
$50k in 401k (w/. 13% contribution of salary every year)
$120k in annual salary + $25k profit sharing
$50k in stocks
$45k BMW x5
$4k of credit card debt.

How do I compare with other 24 yo individuals in the country?
Where do I rank in the country between individuals my age

Administrator answers:

Well your cost of living is probably tripple what mine is so it’s all about how much “disposable income” you can set aside. I would have at least 20k set aside for emergencies. But pay off that credit card because that’s wasted money imo.

This is actually a pretty stupid question

Betty asks…

What is the average savings for 24yo?

I am currently 24 years old living in NYC with the following assets:

$150k in savings.
$50k in 401k (w/. 13% contribution of salary every year)
$120k in annual salary + $25k profit sharing
$50k in stocks
$45k BMW x5
$4k of credit card debt.

How do I compare with other 24 yo individuals in the country?
Where do I rank in the country between individuals my age.

Administrator answers:

Average for the general population? Probably NEGATIVE due to credit cards and student loans. You are probably in the top 1-2% (Mensa level for finances).

If you are putting 13% aside for retirement, that’s great (and much higher than average). I’d try to push it up to 15%.

$190K in savings/stocks for a $145K job. That’s a year’s worth. Not as much as you think if you were laid off tomorrow, but still fantastic for a 24 year old. I didn’t get to $150K in savings until I was much older.

Why is there any credit card “debt” at all? These should be paid off each month.

Maria asks…

I’m looking for a good first car and I need help 10 pts. for best answers?

I am looking for a car that is reliable, sporty or big, preferably a 4WD. I have been considering subaru WRX, mazda 3, ford focus, toyota 4runner, ford f150, dodge charger, BMW x5 or 530i… But of course I have a budget of $7000 and all of my considerations are fairly old cars (6-13)

Administrator answers:

For a first car, you obviously don’t want to get a gas-guzzler. Therefore, I’d suggest you to avoid SUVs and trucks, of course, if you don’t have a pressing need for them. Instead, you should go for hybrids because these have really great fuel efficiency and are spacious as well.

You can get these cars under 7K:

Toyota Highlander Hybrid
Honda CR-V
Toyota Land Cruiser

Good luck.

Linda asks…
