Helen asks…

Can you give me some suggestions on how to keep artwork from blowing away?

I have rented a small 10′x10‘ space at this Pork Festival on Friday. It has been really windy. I have a triple screen with chicken wire. I will hang pictures on there with drapery hooks hanging from wires. Can I do anything else to make it secure? Obviously, this is an outdoor event. Last year, one of my watercolors fell down because of the wind and the glass was broken. Any suggestions you have will be appreciated. I will choose the best one tomorrow. Thanks.

Administrator answers:

Use cheap metal shower curtain hooks to secure the wires onto the grid – they lock closed and are big enough to lay flat beneath the painting. If you use two, the painting will hang straight. Lock & unlock by flipping the painting up & handling the clips from beneath.

Good fortune at the show!

How much would it cost to paint an already colored room white?

I have lime green and purple walls and I decided I just want white and put decals on it. Its about 12′X10‘, so can anyone tell me how much it will cost approximatly? And will the colors already on my walls affect the amount of coats i will need?

Administrator answers:

It depends where you get your paint. They have specialty paints that advertise that it only takes one coat to cover up vibrant colors and patterns. I have never used it though so I can’t vouch for it. Have you tried stopping by a hardware or home improvement store in your area? They should be able to point you in the right direction.

Donna asks…

What can I use to transmit music wirelessly from my computer to my surround sound receiver?

Until a recent move, I was happy using an X10 transmitter/receiver, but now that the signal has two walls in the way, there is a lot of static when I transmit music from my computer to my receiver. I’m looking for a cost-effective solution at wirelessly transmitting a decent-quality signal through two walls for a total distance of about 30 feet.

Administrator answers:

There are different music streaming devices available now – all using your wireless network. The one which I like the most is ROKU ( ) – but there are others.
As long as your wiless network works fine – you should have no problem.
If you do have a problem with your network, there are some options:
1. Place your wireless router in the room between computer and stereo – this way it will be probably be 15ft and one wall to each side.
2. Install repeate/retransmitters
3. Use alternative to wireless network – POWERLINE for example. Adapters aremade by Belkin (and maybe others), and run your network wover existing 110v electric wires.
