Your Questions About X11 Mac

March 10, 2013

Linda asks…

Good free computer drawing software for mac?

I’m looking for a good computer drawing program for Mac (preferably free, though I wouldn’t mind spending a little on something). It doesn’t have to be anything spectacular, as I’m just starting out, but I’d like something more advanced than Paint. Suggestions?
I do a lot of costume design, just fyi. What would be best for that, as well?

Administrator answers:

Take a look at Inkscape. It’s a SVG editing application that runs on both Mac OS and Windows. I believe you may need to have X11 installed on your Mac – it’s an optional install on the OS disc. Gimp is another possibility, although it’s more for image editing than drawing.

Laura asks…

What is a good mic/headset under $100 for all xbox360, ps3, and pc or mac.?

If there is not one for all the systems I listed then I would like it for xbox 360.

Administrator answers:

Turtle Beach x11

Susan asks…

What’s the best editing program to use?

I can’t use Photoshop because it’s to expensive.

Also how can you learn how to use it?

Administrator answers:

GIMP

Its free

GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring.

It has many capabilities. It can be used as a simple paint program, an expert quality photo retouching program, an online batch processing system, a mass production image renderer, an image format converter, etc.

GIMP is expandable and extensible. It is designed to be augmented with plug-ins and extensions to do just about anything. The advanced scripting interface allows everything from the simplest task to the most complex image manipulation procedures to be easily scripted.

GIMP is written and developed under X11 on UNIX platforms. But basically the same code also runs on MS Windows and Mac OS X.
