Sandra asks…

how can i open .exe and .rar files in a mac os x version 10.4.11?

i aLso want to know where can i get fl studios for free, i already have an .exe file but it wont open in my compter it says “script editor cannot be used to open the ….exe file” what application do i need for these files to open? idk heLp O.o

Administrator answers:

@ Jeremy: Mac is not linux.

To open rar files jut get stuffit expander. You have to wade through a lot a bs, but it is free.

Exe’s are windows executables. Obviously windows programs do not run on a mac. If you really want a free way to run windows programs on a mac down load this Install it. Then for mac 10.4 insert your install disk, double click the “Extras” folder then double click the applications installer package. Install an application called X11 from the install cd. After that mac should be able to run some windows application, not all, just some.

looking for a good headset for my iphone while riding on my motorcycle?

I’ve found this throat headset:

Does anyone have any experience with this kind of headset? Soldier, police officer firefighter …

I’d like to know if it actually works well. Or does anyone else have any other suggestion for a good motorcycle “under helmet” headset which would work with the iPhone?

Thank you

Can we know from which country the email is sent?

I want to know can w find out from which country email is sent to us mean the IP address
Answer will be appreciated

Administrator answers:

It’s easy, you can find the originating IP address in the email header (click view full headers and look for something like X-Originating-IP). Then you can find a site that maps IP addresses to countries. I use xtraceroute myself, but that runs in X11. If you are a windows or mac only type of person, then you can use the DNS tools here: That might get you what you need.

John asks…

How do I get the X window system on my mac. its not on Mac HD under Apps>Utilities>?

Administrator answers:

YOu don’t say which version of OS X you have, but if you are on 10.4.x, it should be on your install disc. Put in your DVD, change the view from icon to list. It’s called Optional Installs.mpkg. Double click it, then check X11 and install it. If you don’t have or can’t find the install disc, you can download it from Apple’s Web site. It’s about a 50 mb download.

What’s the best darned computer of all time, Mac or PC?

Administrator answers:

I don’t know where you got your information from, the PC is not the original. Apple created the first personal computer with the Apple I and II. The Mac was the the first personal computer to use a graphical user interface (GUI).

Anyways… The best darned computer of all time is… (drum-roll please) The Macintosh! Why? Simple. Why bother with a PC when a Macintosh will run both Windows XP or Vista and Mac OS X, which is far more superior anyways. Why is it more superior? I don’t know… Maybe it’s the Unix underpinnings, lack of malware, plethora of top quality software, drag and drop installation and uninstallation of applications, drag and drop copy and pasting, built in system wide spell checking, a built in dictionary and thesaurus that can be invoked with a simple keystroke on any word in any application, the ability to mount disk images to the desktop and use them as though they were physical disks, zero-configuration networking, Core Video, Core Audio, Core Imaging, Core Animation, Quartz Extreme, OpenGL, creation of PDFs from any document right from the Print menu, built in support for PDF reading, Quicktime with h.264 encoding, iLife, spring loaded folders, the ability to run Windows within Mac OS X itself, the Unix terminal, Final Cut Studio, Logic Pro, Shake, superior power management, better support for multiple core CPUs, superior operating system stability, Exposé, Spotlight Search, the Dashboard, encrypted home folders, authentication for important system changes such as installing applications or changing security settings, Bonjour, Xgrid, easy file sharing between PCs and Macs, the Dock, superior support for open standards, the Aqua interface, the HFS+ Journaled file system, file permissions, launchd, superior hardware design and integration with the operating system and software (because both are designed by Apple), superior support for foreign languages, superior accessibility features, smart folders, Keychain Access, EFI instead of the ancient BIOS that PCs use, support for X11, portability of Unix/Linux applications, Xcode, Dashcode, VoiceOver, Migration Assistant, Speech Recognition with Speakable Items, handwriting recognition (first developed by Apple with the Newton), Parental Controls, .Mac, easy synchronization with mobile devices via Bluetooth and iSync, gigabit ethernet, hybrid analog/digital/optical audio inputs and outputs, built in firewall, remote login via SSH…
